About Alex

Alex Hawke has proudly represented Mitchell since 2007, serving one of Australia’s fastest-growing family communities in the Hills. A dedicated husband and father of four, Alex understands the pressures facing local families and works every day to make life easier for them.

With a long record of national leadership, Alex has served as Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs, as well as in key roles across Defence, Home Affairs, the Pacific, and the Treasury.

Alex’s own family migration story shapes his commitment to Australia’s future. He is a strong advocate for small and medium businesses, cutting red and green tape, and securing the infrastructure and services that growing suburbs need.

Holding a Master of Government and Public Affairs and having served in the Army Reserve, Alex brings experience, discipline and purpose to every role. He’s also a proud supporter of the Parramatta Eels and an enthusiast of Australian history.

Alex lives locally with his wife, Amelia, and their sons Jack, Lachlan, Thomas and Jonathan firmly rooted in the community he works hard to serve.
