Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, has encouraged the local community to pause on Remembrance Day, on Saturday 11 November 2017 and reflect on the Australians who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defence of our nation.

Remembrance Day marks the signing of the Armistice that ended the First World War in 1918 and is now a day for Australians to observe one minute’s silence at 11 am in memory of those who have died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts,” Alex Hawke said.

The Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, together with Miss Ronie Quinn, Chief Executive Officer, hosted 153 local students at the Mitchell Youth Leadership Forum at Vision Valley from the 12 – 14 October 2017.

“The Mitchell Youth Leadership Forum was an amazing success with 153 students from 15 local high schools involved – the Forum is a significant opportunity for the students to be inspired and encouraged for their future potential in the lead up to their final year of school.

The Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, encourages young local athletes to apply for Round 2, 2017-18 of the Local Sporting Champions program.

The Local Sporting Champions program is designed to support young people participating in state, national and international level sporting championships as an athlete, coach or official.

“Our community has a wealth of outstanding junior sportspeople in the Hills district and it is important that we support the next generation of Australian sporting champions, said Alex Hawke.
