2014 Community Heritage Grants now open

Alex Hawke MP, Federal Member for Mitchell today announced the opening of applications for the 2014 Community Heritage Grants.
“The grants of up to $15,000 are available to community groups around the country to help preserve and manage locally held, nationally significant cultural heritage collections of documents and objects for future generations.” Mr Hawke said
Projects supported include significance assessments; preservation needs assessments, conservation activities and collection management.
“I encourage the many local historical societies, museums, public libraries, and other community groups to apply,
“Our local area is so rich in history with many defining moments in early colonial life happening in north-west Sydney. Our community has a great deal to be proud of and these grants are the ideal way of providing support to community groups and organisation that preserve and celebrate our local heritage.” Mr Hawke concluded.
Applications, which should be submitted online at www.nla.gov.au/chg, close on Friday 2 May 2014 at 5pm (AEST).
