Appointment of Hills Locals to the Regional Development Australia (RDA) Sydney Committee

THE appointment of the Regional Development Australia (RDA) Sydney Chair and Deputy Chair of RDA Sydney was announced today by the Australian Government.

Federal Member for Alex Hawke MP, said the three-year appointments will provide leadership to RDA Sydney to develop a model where all three tiers of government work together.

“I welcome the appointment of Dr Robert Lang as Chair and Professor Jim Taggart OAM as Deputy Chair of RDA Sydney” Alex Hawke said.

“Jim Taggart is a community stalwart in the Hills district, well known for this business success in the field of Financial Planning, Insurance and more recently as a motivational speaker. Jim’s credentials include; past President of the Association of Financial Advisors for Australia, and a Board member of Asia Pacific Life Insurance Council.  He is also actively involved in community activities such as Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal, Board member of North West Disability Services, Gremmo Homes Charity Touch Football Carnival and Board member of the Western Sydney Academy of Sport, said Alex Hawke.

“The RDA committees will play an important role in linking local, state and federal governments to address critical issues in our region. They will also help in guiding community groups and local stakeholders to access public or private funding opportunities, including the Australian Government’s $1 billion National Stronger Regions Fund.”

Regional Development Australia consists of a national network of 55 committees designed to strongly focus on regional economic development and facilitate local projects that aim to make a difference in their local communities.

The Chair and Deputy Chair will now move promptly to appoint a team of active local community leaders to support them.  Alex Hawke thanked retiring committee Chairs and members for their service and wished the new committees well as they work to deliver stronger local regions.
