Commonwealth Funding of $560,000 will fix four dangerous black spots in Mitchell
Mitchell is getting a boost from the Commonwealth Government’s record $50 billion investment in road and transport infrastructure.
The Budget is the next step in the Government’s responsible, long-term economic plan to build a strong, safe and prosperous future for all Australians.
Through our nationwide infrastructure programme, the Government is creating thousands of jobs, reducing travel times and boosting economic growth nationwide.
In New South Wales we are investing $13.8 billion over 2013-14 to 2018-19 plus an additional $1.2 billion from 2019-20 with $2.2 billion to be funded in 2015-16.
Federal Member for Mitchell, Alex Hawke MP, today said that the funding would support much needed infrastructure projects in Mitchell.
“These projects will create job opportunities, boost our local economy and make our roads safer for motorists and other road users.
Mr Hawke said that 7 projects in the Mitchell electorate would receive a portion of the Government’s 2015–16 Budget funding including:
Black Spot Programme:
· Intersection of Windsor and Wrights Road in Kellyville - $400,000 to install traffic lights
· Intersection of Nelson Road and Mason Road and Old Pitt Town Road in Box Hill - $100,000 to install w-beam safety barrier on Nelson Road and median islands, signage and kerb extensions on the eastern side (Nelson Road) and western (Mason Road) legs of the intersection.
· Intersection of Old Northern Road and Francis Street in Castle Hill - $35,000 to upgrade signage and delineation in Francis Street
· Intersection of Carramarr Road and Gilham Street in Castle Hill - $25,000 to upgrade signage and delineation in Gilham Street.
Roads to Recovery:
Hornsby Shire Council ($1,423,209), Parramatta City Council ($1,441,608) and The Hills Shire Council ($1,821,567).
“This is more good news for Mitchell. The Government is building the world-class infrastructure that our community needs”, Mr Hawke said.
“These projects will deliver a modern transport network locally and unlock the economic capacity of Mitchell.”
