National Day of Action: Bullying and violence has no place in our schools
Federal Member for Mitchell, Alex Hawke MP, encourages parents to chat to their children and let them know that bullying and violence has no place in our schools.
On the 2014 National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence, Alex Hawke said the day was a valuable opportunity for parents and students to come together with their school communities to create safe and supportive learning environments free from bullying and violence.
More than 900,000 students from over 2,000 schools across Australia will take part in the 2014 National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence.
“Parents play a critical role in preventing bullying and violence in Australian schools,” Alex Hawke said.
“We want to encourage parents to talk to their children about this important issue and let them know bullying has no place in our schools.
“The National Day of Action provides the opportunity for schools to promote their own anti‐bullying messages and programmes
“When they registered for the National Day of Action, schools detailed their plans for local activities and for how students will get involved.
“This means schools can share ideas on the work being done to address bullying in schools across Australia.”
The Safe Schools Hub is an online resource designed to empower the whole school community, including parents, with information and advice on supporting a safe school culture.
“It is important schools, parents and students use resources like the Safe School Hub to talk about bullying and violence,” concluded Alex Hawke MP.
