Rouse Hill, Beaumont Hills, Kellyville, Bella Vista and Sections of Castle Hill Enters Superfast Broadband Era
Superfast broadband has arrived in Rouse Hill, Beaumont Hills, Kellyville, Bella Vista and parts of Castle Hill as the nbn makes services available to more than 10,614 homes and businesses in the electorate of Mitchell. Residents in Rouse Hill, Beaumont Hills, Kellyville, Bella Vista and parts of Castle Hill can begin ordering their nbn service from a retail service provider this week.
Federal Member for Mitchell, Hon Alex Hawke MP said residents in Rouse Hill, Beaumont Hills, Kellyville, Bella Vista and Castle Hill should take full advantage of the opportunities available in Australia’s new high-speed broadband era.
“The Australian Government’s National Broadband Network will boost productivity and provide a platform for innovation to ensure the economic and social benefits of the internet are available to every Australian,” MP Alex Hawke said. “The development of digital technologies has reduced business costs, changed how our children study and learn, and created many more ways to engage socially.”
The nbn’s next generation connectivity is fast and reliable, enabling households and small businesses to be more productive and better connected for years to come.
Homes and business in Rouse Hill, Beaumont Hills, Kellyville, Bella Vista and parts of Castle Hill will be connected to the nbn using fibre to the node (FTTN) technology. FTTN offers average wholesale broadband speeds of around 70 megabits per second (Mbps), with many premises able to access speeds of up to 100 Mbps. nbn will ensure that at least 90 per cent of the fixed-line footprint will have access to wholesale download speeds of 50 Mbps.
Hon Alex Hawke MP said the rollout in Mitchell was gathering pace thanks to nbn’s simplified network construction and the company’s strong relationship with local contractors.
“Our changes to Labor’s original rollout have prevented monthly internet bills increasing by up to $43 per month and saved around $30 billion in project funding”, Hon Alex Hawke MP said.
Under the Coalition, there are more than 3.2 million homes and businesses able to order an nbn service, and more than 1.3 million paying customers have connected. This compares to just 51,000 connections in the six years of the previous Labor Government.
“It’s an exciting time for residents in Mitchell with around 10,614 homes and businesses seeing the nbn being built right now in Rouse Hill, Beaumont Hills, Kellyville, Bella Vista and Castle Hill” MP Alex Hawke said.
It typically takes a couple of weeks to connect up to the nbn after placing an order, and all residents will require new in-home equipment that is compatible with the faster nbn service.
Under the Coalition Government’s broadband policy, nbn has shaved years off construction time which will see the nbn connect to 3 out of every 4 homes and businesses in Australia in 2018. More information on how to connect to the nbn is available at www.nbnco.com.au
