Small Business Helpline to assist Mitchell Employers
Monday, 9 December 2013
Federal Member for Mitchell, Alex Hawke MP welcomes the announcement a new small business helpline has been established to provide small businesses with quick and stress-free access to workplace relations advice.
“Operating a small business can be very exciting, but quite difficult when it comes to understanding requirements and responsibilities under the Fair Work Act including minimum employment conditions, recording keeping and payslips,” Alex Hawke said.
“Small business people in Mitchell who call the Fair Work Ombudsman will now receive priority service which will help them to efficiently improve their understanding of the laws so they are confident to grow, invest and create jobs.
“Small businesses are the economic life blood of many communities in Mitchell and across Australia and the helpline is part of a wider program to better support and increase the productivity of small businesses.
“We said before the election we would restore confidence in the sector, encourage growth, drive employment and innovation and this delivers on the Coalition’s Policy to Improve the Fair Work Laws,” concluded Alex Hawke.
The Fair Work Act sets out a number of requirements that business, including small business, need to be aware of and employers can call the Fair Work Info line on 13 13 94 between 8am and 5.30pm weekdays to obtain free advice and assistance from a team of expert advisers.
A free interpreter service is also available by calling 13 14 50.
Further information and a range of tools and resources are available on the Fair Work Ombudsman’s website at www.fairwork.gov.au/smallbusiness.
