DisabiliTEA 2012

 Thursday, 1 November 2012

The Federal Member for Mitchell, Alex Hawke MP, attended two DisabiliTEA events held in the Hills district on Friday 26th October.

DisabiliTEA is a national tea party organised by community groups to support people with disabilities, families and carers.  DisabiliTEA is an initiative of Every Australian Counts, who are lobbying for the introduction of a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

“It was wonderful to join with those from the Jasper Road Public School Support Unit, the Hills Physical Disability Team and from Ability Options to hear their concerns and share a cup of tea.

“I have been a long standing supporter of the Every Australian Counts initiative. As a society, we should be able to properly support people with a disability and their carers. The Coalition strongly supports the establishment of the NDIS.

“Thank you to the families, carers, community organisations who support those with a disability in ‘making a difference’ in their lives”, Alex Hawke concluded.

The Coalition will continue to place this issue above politics and is prepared to work with State and Commonwealth Governments towards a better deal for people with a disability.
