Gillard again shows her true colours to the residents of Western Sydney

 Wednesday, 29 May 2013

Alex Hawke MP, Federal Member for
Mitchell, today condemned the Gillard government’s decision to break their
election commitment to fund the Epping to Parramatta Rail line until at least
2019-2020.

“There was much cynicism when the
Prime Minister announced the Parramatta to Epping rail link – ten days before
the 2010 election. Now it seems the cynics were right.

“The decision to defer funding of
the Epping to Parramatta Rail Line by the Gillard government, once again shows
their contempt for the people of Western Sydney, said Alex Hawke.

For more than a decade the
previous New South Wales Labor Government continually broke its promises to
construct vital transport infrastructure in Sydney and now it seems the Gillard
Labor government is continuing in their footsteps.

“Only a Liberal led Coalition
government can be trusted with building vital infrastructure that is
desperately needed in our community.  This is evidenced by the building of
the North West Rail Line by the NSW Liberal O’Farrell government.
Preparation work for the North West Rail Line has begun throughout the electorate
of Mitchell.

“The electorate is crying
out for a Government that means what it says and will keep its election
commitments”, concluded Alex Hawke.
