 Monday, 26 August 2013

Alex
Hawke MP, Liberal Candidate for Mitchell, today congratulated the Centenary of
ANZAC Hills Community Committee on their successful application under the ANZAC
Centenary Local Grants Program for a $100,000 grant.

“I
am delighted to be able to announce today that our community was among the
first to apply for this funding and has been the first to be successful in
being granted funding. The Centenary of ANZAC will be the most significant
national period of commemoration in our nation’s history”,

“The
committee, ably led by Colonel Don Tait OAM, has worked incredibly hard to
ensure that the programme commemorating the Centenary of ANZAC is one which is
dignified and inclusive and one that will bring our community together” Alex
Hawke said.

The
grant will go towards community events such as a week of commemorations on the
Centenary of ANZAC at Bella Vista Farm, a public concert of the music of the
First World War and a Centenary of ANZAC stage show.

“Having
seen the full program of events and ceremonies planned, I am confident that the
commemorations held in our local community on this most significant of
occasions will be among the best in the nation”,

“I
look forward to working closely with the committee and the wider community to
deliver commemorations that all in Mitchell will be proud of to honour our
nation’s centenary of service and mark the nation-defining events of the
Centenary of Anzac”, Alex Hawke concluded.
