Turnbull Government supporting National Science Week in Mitchell

Individuals, community groups and researchers in Mitchell will be able to benefit from the Turnbull Government’s plan to support organisations to hold an event as part of National Science Week 2017, with grants of $2,000 to $20,000 available.

Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, said National Science Week will run from 12 to 20 August 2017 and will be a chance for all Australians to get involved in science.

“This an annual celebration of science and technology, attracting more than a million participants each year and I encourage all interested groups to apply for a grant.”  Alex Hawke said.

“Science is important to residents in Mitchell and National Science Week is an opportunity to showcase the contributions of Australian researchers and scientists in our community.

“Activities like exhibitions, expos and workshops are a great way to get the local community talking about science.

“They get individuals and the community involved by making science accessible to all,” Alex Hawke said.

As part of the National Innovation and Science Agenda, a total of up to $500,000 would be available nationwide for projects that promote and encourage interest in science, engineering, technology and innovation, and communicate their relevance in everyday life.

“National Science Week is designed to engage and excite everyone, with events, activities, talks and shows for every age group,” concluded Alex Hawke MP.
