Australians who are celebrating a special birthday or wedding anniversary can receive personal congratulations from the Prime Minister, Governor-General or The King.
Australians can receive a message from the Prime Minister:
- on their 50th wedding anniversary and every year after*
- on their 90th birthday and every year after*
Australians can receive a message from the Governor-General:
- on their 50th wedding anniversary and every year after*
- on their 100th birthday and every year after*
Australians can receive a message from The King:
- on their 60th wedding anniversary and every fifth year after*
- on their 100th birthday and every fifth year after*
If you did not receive a message from The King for your 60th wedding anniversary or 100th birthday you can request a message for the next occasion (i.e. your 61st wedding anniversary or 101st birthday). After the 60th or 61st wedding anniversary, or 100th or 101st birthday, the next opportunity to receive an anniversary message from The King will be your 65th wedding anniversary or 105th birthday.

How do I arrange the message?
You can arrange a congratulatory message through Alex Hawke’s office by:
- Calling the office on 02 9899 7211;
- Visiting the electorate office at Suite 8, 23 Terminus Street, Castle Hill; or
- Please complete the online form below or click here to download form to complete.
If you are applying for a message on behalf of a relative or friend who lives in another electorate, their federal member will be notified as well.
Where appropriate, your request to the Prime Minister will be passed on to the Governor-General and The King so you only have to make one application.
You will need to provide supporting documentation such as birth certificates or marriage certificates.
If these are not available you can provide a statutory declaration. Statutory declaration forms are available at any post office or from the electorate office. Justice of the Peace service is available at the electorate office during business hours.
When should I arrange the message?
- Arrangements for messages can be made up to 2 months before a wedding anniversary or birthday.
- A belated message can also be requested up to 6 months after the wedding anniversary or birthday has passed.
- Messages can be posted a maximum of one month prior to the wedding anniversary or birthday.
Where will the message be delivered?
Congratulatory messages can be posted directly to the recipient’s home address or alternatively to care-of address (such as a friend or relative) for surprises.
