Thank you to all the volunteers from NSW SES, The Hills SES Unit, our Australian Defence Force personnel, NSW Rural Fire Service and the vast array of people from our community who are assisting those in flood affected areas.
Evacuation orders are in place for many Northern NSW communities. The situation in many areas of NSW and QLD remains serious and life threatening.
Tragically, people have lost their lives in floodwaters, our thoughts and prayers are with their family and friends.
The Federal Government has activated Disaster Recovery Payments in 26 local government areas across QLD and Northern NSW. These payments of $1,000 for adults and $400 for children are there to help those who have suffered significant loss to their homes or serious injury.
For Australian Government payments, call the Services Australia’s Disaster Assistance phone line on 180 22 66 or visit www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/disaster
