ANZAC Day 2013
On Thursday 25 April, we stopped to remember and reflect on the
sacrifice of men and women who serve and served our nation in times of war and
peace. The Wrights Road Reserve at Kellyville had its inaugural Dawn
service and was a success with over 5,000 people attending. I encourage all to attend next year’s rehearsal in the lead up to Centenary of ANZAC in 2015.
Other local services I had the opportunity to attend were NorthWest Uniting Church ANZAC Commemoration Service at Rouse Hill and The Hills Club ANZAC Day Commemoration Service.
At the Hills Club, I had the privilege of meeting a local returned veteran, Chris Halford (pictured) who served in the
Armed Forces in Afghanistan.
It was great to see so many people of all ages attending the various ANZAC services held throughout Mitchell.
Veterans of the past proudly displayed their medals; soldiers of today boldly wore their uniforms.
We honour them and the
families who supported them.
Lest We Forget.
