Hills Local awarded Endeavour Postgraduate Scholarship

A recipient from Mitchell has been awarded the opportunity to study and do research overseas during 2015 under the Australian Government’s Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships programme.

Federal Member for Mitchell, Alex Hawke MP, today said a local, Robert Mason, who has been awarded the prestigious Endeavour Postgraduate Scholarship can be very proud of his success in this competitive process.

“Across Australia these postgraduate scholarships and fellowships will allow 154 top-performing Australians to further their skills and knowledge and develop Australia’s research links overseas while building their international experience, Alex Hawke said.

“By winning a scholarship Robert Mason has shown himself to be amongst the brightest in Australia.”

The programme will also support 528 highly competitive recipients from overseas to study in Australia.

“The Government understands the importance of creating opportunities for the people of communities like ours to advance their education, research and professional development, both at home and overseas, Alex Hawke said.

“I’m proud to be part of a Government which is investing an extra $100 million over five years in the New Colombo Plan which will increase Australians’ knowledge of the Asia–Pacific region and strengthen ties through study and internships undertaken by undergraduate students.”

The New Colombo Plan commences fully in 2015, after a pilot phase in 2014.

Applications for the 2016 Endeavour Scholarship and Fellowship round will open in April 2015.
