Abbott Liberal Government getting on with the job
Federal Member for Mitchell, Alex Hawke MP, welcomed the strong endorsement of Prime Minister Tony Abbott’s leadership and Deputy Liberal Leader Julie Bishop by the party room today.
“While the events of the past two weeks have been unfortunate and unnecessary, the Prime Minister has indicated he has heard the concerns of all colleagues and that his Government will be more consultative and collegiate in the future.”
“In particular I welcome the Prime Minister’s announcement that the Government will not proceed with the paid parental leave scheme and will instead focus on childcare and family policy. This is directly in line with the feedback from our community.”
The Prime Minister has announced a small business tax cut which will provide vital assistance to our small business community in tighter economic times. This is a fantastic announcement for our small business community.
As the Prime Minister has said, the leadership issue is now behind us and the Government will be getting on with the job of addressing the debt & deficit legacy left to us by the Labor Party.
“I want to thank everyone from our community who contacted me about the performance of the Government and with their views. I can guarantee I will be raising all suggestions and concerns with Ministers and the party room in coming weeks to ensure the Government responds to this feedback.”
“Again today’s result allows us to focus on the enormous task of fixing the debt and deficit legacy of Labor and ensuring we have a strong and secure economy for a safe and secure society.”
