The Coalition Government will ensure that residents in Mitchell at risk of heart disease receive timely and appropriate medical advice with the creation of a new Medicare item for heart health checks.

Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, said from April 1 this year a new dedicated MBS item for heart health checks will support General Practitioners and patients in assessing cardiovascular risk.

Clean up Australia Day 2019 is held on Sunday, 3 March – A day that encourages communities across Australia to join together to clean up, fix up and preserve their local environment.

This year, I will be joining the Winston Hills Girl Guides, 1st Winston Hills Scouts and community to clean up Third Settlement Reserve. If you have some time to assist please feel free to come along and pitch in. It would be great to meet you and have you on board for this important initiative.

Hundreds more women and children escaping domestic and family violence will have a safe place to sleep with a $78 million investment by the Morrison Government.

This investment includes a $60 million grants program for eligible organisations to provide new or expanded emergency accommodation facilities for those escaping domestic and family violence.

Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, encourages teachers and school leaders in Mitchell to take action against bullying.

Alex Hawke MP said registrations were now open for schools to sign up to the National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence on Friday 15 March 2019.

“The National Day of Action is a national movement against bullying and cyberbullying, and registered schools in Mitchell would receive new anti-bullying materials and teaching resources,” Alex Hawke said.

The Liberal National Government will provide $54.5 million for research that will give new hope and support to the more than 120,000 Australian children and adults, including many in Mitchell living with type 1 diabetes.

Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, said the funding is provided through the Government’s landmark Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF).

“Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Australia will receive $25 million to advance its Type 1 Diabetes Clinical Research Network.” Alex Hawke said.
