Mr HAWKE (Mitchell—Minister for International Development and the Pacific and Assistant Defence Minister) (10:38): It's a pleasure to rise today and update the House about some of the events of note in my electorate of Mitchell in recent months. First of all, the 2020 Mitchell Youth Leadership Forum, in its 19th year, took place on Friday 16 October.
Men’s Sheds across Mitchell have been invited to apply for funding as part of the newest round of the National Men’s Shed Development Programme (NDSP).
Funded by the Morrison Government, Round 21 of the NSDP will specifically prioritise applications with a strong health, wellbeing or safety emphasis, in acknowledgement of the impact of COVID-19 and the needs of Sheds in the recovery period and beyond.
Additionally, in light of COVID-19, IT equipment and training will be prioritised to facilitate increased connectivity amongst shedders.
The Morrison Government’s Economic Recovery Plan for Australia will create jobs, rebuild our economy and secure Australia’s future, including in Mitchell.
Under our plan, taxpayers in Mitchell will get a tax cut backdated to 1 July this year.
“This means more money in the pockets of local households to assist with the cost of living, but also to help generate economic activity and create jobs”, Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke said.
The Federal Budget 2020 was delivered by the Treasurer, the Hon Josh Frydenberg on Tuesday, 6 October 2020 at Parliament House, Canberra.

Organisations and individuals in Mitchell with ideas for exciting National Science Week events for next year are being encouraged to apply for a grant to make their idea a reality.
Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, said preparations for next year’s annual festival of science are now underway, with grants of up to $20,000 available for those who are ready to inspire Australia’s next generation of big picture thinkers.
