Federal Member for Mitchell, Alex Hawke MP, said the Coalition Government will update the Australian Citizenship Act 2007 so dual-nationals who engage in terrorism can be stripped of their citizenship.

The Minister for Immigration and Border Protection will be able to exercise these powers in the national interest where a dual citizen betrays his or her allegiance to Australia by participating in serious terrorist-related activities.

Federal Member for Mitchell, Alex Hawke MP, welcomed the Government’s Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) Access and Sustainability Package of reforms following months of constructive consultations and robust negotiations across the entire pharmaceutical supply chain, including consumers, pharmacists, medicines manufacturers, wholesalers and doctors.

Alex Hawke said the Abbott Government had put together a reform package that struck the right balance between supporting the needs of consumers, pharmacy industry and taxpayers.

Federal Member for Mitchell, Alex Hawke MP, said the electorate of Mitchell has received a significant boost in the 2015 Budget.

“The Coalition Government’s new Stronger Communities Programme will provide $45 million over two years to fund small capital projects in local communities,” Alex Hawke said.

“Our community will receive funding of $150,000 per year over two years, to support projects that deliver social benefits.

“I will be consulting closely with eligible organisations in Mitchell to identify high‑priority projects,” Alex Hawke said.
