Businesses in the Norwest Business Park are a step closer to joining the superfast era with planning and design work on the National Broadband Network scheduled for late 2015 and construction expected to start in Q2 2016.

Consistent with the multi-technology mix approach taken by the nbn™, planning work undertaken for the Norwest Business Park has determined that the business park will be served by fibre-to-the-premises technology.

The Abbott Government is establishing a new $246 million pilot programme to extend subsidy support to nanny home care services to help support families who struggle to access affordable child care services when working, studying or looking for work.

Federal Member for Mitchell, Alex Hawke MP, said subsidised care will be provided to about 10,000 children through this pilot programme across Australia, especially in middle to low income families.

Tax-deductible donations to hundreds of environmental groups will be scrutinised in a new inquiry by the House of Representatives Environment Committee.

The committee launched an inquiry into the administration, transparency and effectiveness of the Register of Environmental Organisations (the Register) in supporting practical action to improve the environment.

Committee Chair, Alex Hawke MP, said the committee looks forward to hearing from a range of environmental organisations, including those currently listed on the Register, and other interested parties.
