The Budget is the next step in the Government’s responsible, long-term economic plan to build a strong, safe and prosperous future for all Australians.

Through our nationwide infrastructure programme, the Government is creating thousands of jobs, reducing travel times and boosting economic growth nationwide.

Community organisations in Mitchell can apply for grants to help deliver projects that will reduce violence against women and their children.

A total of $4 million is available under the Building Safe Communities for Women and their Children initiative to fund one-off projects to address domestic violence.

Federal Member for Mitchell, Alex Hawke MP, said this funding will help organisations in the Hills district to come together to respond to and support women and their children who are experiencing violence.

The Stronger Communities Programme, announced in this year’s Budget, will deliver $150,000 per year for two years to fund small capital projects which deliver social benefits.

This is an exciting opportunity for local communities to work with me to identify potential projects which will contribute to our community’s long term vibrancy and viability. I will be establishing a community consultation committee to identify projects which are a priority and to ensure this funding delivers the best possible outcomes for our community.

THE appointment of the Regional Development Australia (RDA) Sydney Chair and Deputy Chair of RDA Sydney was announced today by the Australian Government.

Federal Member for Alex Hawke MP, said the three-year appointments will provide leadership to RDA Sydney to develop a model where all three tiers of government work together.

“I welcome the appointment of Dr Robert Lang as Chair and Professor Jim Taggart OAM as Deputy Chair of RDA Sydney” Alex Hawke said.

In particular, Mr Mallah made the following statement: “The Liberals have just justified to many Australian Muslims in the community tonight to leave and go to Syria and join ISIL because of ministers like him.”
